Pronation

The inward rolling motion of the foot during walking or running

What Does This Mean?

Pronation is the natural inward rolling motion of the foot that occurs during the gait cycle to distribute impact forces and provide shock absorption. Overpronation, underpronation (supination), and neutral pronation are common foot strike patterns with different biomechanical implications for runners.
