What Does This Mean?

Plantar fasciitis is a common cause of heel pain resulting from inflammation and microtears in the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that supports the arch of the foot. It is often characterized by stabbing pain in the heel, especially upon first steps in the morning or after periods of rest.
