Anaerobic Threshold

The point at which muscles start to accumulate lactate

What Does This Mean?

The anaerobic threshold is the exercise intensity at which lactate begins to accumulate in the bloodstream faster than it can be removed. For ultrarunners, improving this threshold allows them to sustain higher intensities for longer periods.
